Q: What is the purpose of VR3-CD ? A: We created it because: - CD provided with VR3 is outdated - There's too much different information sources - Not everyone has T3 link at home So purpose of VR3-CD is to provide, software and documention for VR3 in simple to use form without need to browse web for pieces of informations. 1.2. Q: What is it not for ? A: It's not designed for frying in microwave. Anyhow if you'll try it let us know. We're seriously interested about results of this :). Now let's be serious. It's definitely not mirror of all VR3 software in universe. We put, what we mostly like and need to develop and use VR3. 1.3. Q: How often do you release new version ? A: Releases are not too close to each other because we can imagine how much people will get upset if they download 500MB , and there will be completely new release other day. That's why there is some info about to what date the next release has been scheduled and also you can find list of changes in CHANGELOG. 1.4. Q: Who designed VR3-CD cover ? A: Aadaam - Nemeth Adam 2.1. Q: Why can't you put some description of what's in directories ? A: First of all it should be there. However because of various reasons we didn't name it index.html as one could expect. The name of description file was choosen to be 0readme.html, so before blaming us try to look for 0readme.html in directory. 2.2. Q: How do I open the .iso file? A: It depends. If you are familiar with Linux/BSD/unix there is possibility to mount iso image through loopback device. Procedure is following: # mount /path/to/file.iso /mount/point -t iso9660 -o loop Off course ,you need loopback + iso9660 + Joliet extension support in your kernel. 2.3. Q: What is the password for VR3schematics.rar file A: Don't ask us. We don't know :) Okay ... we know the password, but we won't tell. Ask WH Siu if you are realy interested in this. 2.4. Q: How can I use CGI/WEB extension for local browsing ? A: Easily. For NIX(linux/bsd/solaris/...) clones you need to have BASH(/bin/bash) PERL(/usr/bin/perl) and EGREP installed. - mount VR3-CD mount /dev/cdrom /mnt/cdrom - change directory to your mountpoint cd /mnt/cdrom - start DNHTTPD server with SERVER_ROOT environment variable setup to Browse/dnhttpd eg.: export SERVER_ROOT=/mnt/cdrom/Browse/dnhttpd Browse/dnhttpd/exec/dnhttpd.pl - point your browser to http://127.0.0.1:8000 links http://127.0.0.1:8000 For Windows: ... 3.1. Q: How can I print VR3-CD cover on linux? A: You'll need Gimp 1.1 or later with gimp-print (and of course, a printer somewhere) installed. Open the file (with File|Open, for example...;) then rightclick on the image, choose File (from the appearing local menu)|Print... dialog. In the dialog, set Width and Height in Scaling panel (middle part) to 12 after setting unit to cm (which means centimeter). This applies both to cd and label. Since I live in hungary, I can't tell you it in inches, sorry- we use metric system... Then you'll only have to print it. 3.2. Q: How can I print VR3-CD cover on m$ win? A: See. I work with computers, with a computer operation system on it. Drives works with their motor and firmware, they operate well. My computer is in a big, hard metal case, so it is everything but soft and micro. Doors, gates and windows are mostly used in building industry, and I'm in IT. To be serios, I work with a free system- you can get it also. If you buy me a Windows and an Adobe PhotoShop (Plus a Pentium 4 2.5GHz to have useable speed with it:)) I'll probably try to make something with it, and tell you how to print it, but 'till that... well, I stay beside Gimp. 3.3. Q: Picture is so small... Is there a better-resolution one? A: Unfortunately: not. (not YET) Since this is the maximum scale I've got both from Milan's chatboard+vr3 piture and Vr3 logo (Milan's picture is already upscaled a bit...) it'd have no sense to make it bigger. 3.4. Q: I have only a b/w printer. What could I do? A: See. Try to understand, that as a designer, I can't work with only one color (gray, although with full of shades) just because some don't have good resources- including me. I tried to make it ink-economic for those who don't have a color printer, and I think it also looks good in grayscale- but of course, that's only my (really subjective;) opinion. 3.5. Q: Can I get the XCFs? A: Probably. We live in an Open Source World. But if you want the XCFs, I have to upload them somewhere, which is a bit expensive on my 56K modem connection- they're more than 800K each even with bzip2. Ask me for such resources on . 3.6. Q: Is there any licensing? Can I use these pictures? A: You can use these pictures 'till you say it's your work. It isn't your work. Althogh main design organisation was done by me, and so Adino asked me to put my name on it, the original Vr3 logo is used, which was made by: I don't know who, and Milan's (WWW's) picture of his AgVr3d. Adino moved Vr3 and CD words this close to each other. Only other things were done by me. I really appreciate their helpings (of the above mentioned people). That's OUR work.
